Discipline underpins the success of any institution. We at the Islamic Teachers Training College underscore this fact. Our undertaking is riveted in the teachings and principles of Islam which attach responsibility to every person that we are all guardians and as guardians we shall be called upon to account for what we guarded upon (kulukum ra’ai wa kulukum mas’ulun an raiyatihi).
Guided by this principle we have made great strides as an educational institution in ensuring the smooth running of our programmes. Needless to say, a day in the week runs cohesively from the wake of the dawn when Muslims perform Fajr prayer all through the other prayers of the day to Ishai; thereafter, a stint of stay in class for compulsory night preps till 10.30 p.m. Classes begin at 7.30 a.m. and end at 4.30 pm.
Though we strictly adhere to the teachings and principles of Islam espoused in the Holy Quran and Hadith of Rasulullah (S.A.W.) we exercise no compulsion to religion. The college admits both Muslim and non Muslim students without prejudice of any sort. Our criterion of admission is based on merit. We believe in both equality and equity in education regardless of someone’s religious disposition. Nevertheless, we hold dear the aspirations of the founding fathers of the institution as entrenched in the college vision: to bring forth a teacher of high integrity empowered with all life competencies based on Islamic core values and is able to facilitate effective teaching and learning. Thus, we strive to provide a holistic teacher education guided by constructive knowledge, positive character formation and self restraint conforming to modern development trends without compromising Islamic principle.
We believe with Allah (S.W.)’s guidance Islamic Teachers Training College will remain a fountain of knowledge in its sense of purity as commanded by Allah (S.W.):
“Read in the name of your Lord…” (Q.96:1)
