The college is strictly following the regulation governing the training of professional teachers in order to produce all-round teacher graduates. We equip our teacher- trainees with enough knowledge and skills to make them competent and excellent teachers in the society. We identify, nature and develop talents in areas such as drama, fine arts, music, poetry, games &sports with our Islamic back ground, we instill values to produce God fearing and morally upright teachers who can easily mingle and understand different members of the society.
In realizing all these, the college follows the primary Teacher education (PTE) Curriculum for P1 teachers & ECDE curriculum for the ECDE teachers.
Courses
Primary Teacher Education (PTE) .
The entry requirements for PTE course is a minimum of a C(Plain) or its equivalent.
The PTE curriculum is broad-based with 13 subjects in the first year of study namely:
- Education.
- English.
- Kiswahili.
- Physical Education
- Mathematics
- Science
- Agriculture.
- Home Science
- Islamic Religious Education
- Social Studies
- Art & Craft
- Music
- Information Communication Technology.
These Subjects are categorized into three clusters as :
- Core Subjects.
i. Education
ii. English
iii. Kiswahili
iv. Physical Education
v. ICT - Science/Group A Subjects
i. Mathematics
ii. Science
iii. Agriculture
iv. Home science - Arts/Group B Subjects.
i. Islamic Religious Education
ii. Social Studies
iii. Art & Craft
iv. Music.
In year two of study each student is required to take the core subjects & select either group A or group B option. Arabic is an additional subject which is being offered for both year1 and year2.
The PTE course takes duration of 2 years with 9 sessions. At the end of the two yeas period, the teacher-trainees sit for the final exams by Kenya National Examination Board (KNEC).
To implement the PTE curriculum, various disciplines and departments have been established.

The academic calendar for PTE course begins in September and ends in July. The teacher trainees normaly go out in various schools for teaching practice thrice during the 2 year period. They are assessed nine times by their tutors and the final time (10th ) time they are assessed by the external assessors from different bodies of the Ministry of Education (quality assurance & standards, KIE, KNEC etc)
